Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the annual game that is played every 2nd Sunday of February with the NFC and AFC Conference champions facing off against each other to see who will get the credit and the bragging rights. The game itself is played after the completion of a season(example:end of the 2021 season and the Super Bowl in 2022).This has been around since the 1960’s with the first game being mentioned as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game in Los Angeles at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The first game was against the AFL Kansas City Chiefs under Hank Stram against the NFL Green Bay Packers under the legendary coach Vince Lombardi. The Green Bay Packers ended up winning the 1st game 35-10 and would win the 2nd title in Super Bowl II. The New York Jets won only Super Bowl III after beating the Baltimore Colts 16-7. The Chiefs would have a chance to win a super bowl and grabbed the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl IV and later on Super Bowl LIV(54). The Baltimore Colts grabbed Super Bowl V by beating the Dallas Cowboys 16-13. The Dallas Cowboys would get revenge from their loss to win in Super Bowl VI against the Miami Dolphins 24-3 and also win the following Super Bowls:XII,XXVII,XXVIII and XXX.

The 1972 Dolphins were undefeated in the regular season and beat the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round and then the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Conference Championship game and would advance to Super Bowl VII and would beat the formerly named Washington Redskins 14-7 which would make them the first and only team to end there season with no game they lost to ending the regular season 14-0 and ending the season 17-0. The Dolphins would also win Super Bowl VIII but not undefeated. The Pittsburgh Steelers won their first title in Super Bowl IX and would win 5 more with Super Bowls X,XIII,XIV,XL, and XLIII with them tying the New England Patriots for most super bowl wins. The Oakland Raiders(now Las Vegas) would win in Super Bowls XI,XV and XVIII as the Los Angeles Raiders. The San Francisco 49ers got its first title in Super Bowl XVI as well as XIX,XXIII,XXIV andXXIX. The 1985 Chicago Bears are referred to as having the best defense of all time and made them win Super Bowl XX, their only title in team history. The New York Giants would win their first title in Super Bowl XXI and followed by them winning Super Bowls:XXV,XLII and XLVI. The Green Bay Packers ended their Super Bowl drought by winning Super Bowl XXXI and also Super Bowl XLV.

The Denver Broncos would win 2 titles in a row with them winning both Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII as well as Super Bowl 50 the only super bowl to not use roman numerals. The Rams won their first title in St.Louis in Super Bowl XXXIV and would win the recent title in Los Angeles in Super Bowl LVI. The Baltimore Ravens won their first title in Super Bowl XXXV and later won with Lamar Jackson in Super Bowl XLVII. The New England Patriots won its first title in Super Bowl XXXVI and would win Super Bowls XXXVIII,XXXIX,XLIX,LI and LII With Tom Brady winning all of their titles. The Indianapolis Colts were the team after the Baltimore Colts and are still today and won Super Bowl XLI. The New Orleans Saints won their first title in Super Bowl XLIV with Drew Brees,Reggie Bush and Mike Bell. The Seattle Seahawks Legion of Boom was the league's leading passing yards,points allowed and interceptions in the 2013 season for defense and led them to Super Bowl XLVIII. The Philadelphia Eagles won its first title in Super Bowl LII and beat Tom Brady as the biggest upset in that season.

The next game will be this Sunday February 12, 2023 and will be at State Farm Stadium in Glendale,AZ and will be streaming on Fox and Fox Deportes and this will be the last game to be broadcasted by Fox in the NFL contract.

The former record for the largest comeback in Super Bowl LI was when New England was down in the first half trailing 28-3 to the Atlanta Falcons and forced the game into overtime and the Patriots ran the game winning touchdown by James White for 2 yards even though it looked from an angle it was short, the ball was past the end zone line.

The greatest show on turf was the nickname of the St.Louis Rams in them winning their first title in the Super Bowl Era.
