Under “Pressure”

Many have heard of the app called “Roblox” at least once in their life, or maybe you haven’t. Roblox is a gaming app that has a myriad of different games on the site you can play whenever you’d like. Of course, there are many you can filter through to see if any catch your eye--if Roblox doesn't already do that with their “For You” section.

But recently, I have come across a well-made horror game. It’s so good that you might have an urge to beat it and maybe play it a few times over. This game has probably made a new name for horror on Roblox.

And yes, it's that good.

This game that I am talking about is called “Pressure,” and it’s unironically one of the best games I have ever played on Roblox. It takes inspiration from other iconic games and media, such as “Doors”, “SCP Foundation”, and “Subnautica.” Basically, “Pressure” uses mechanics and other similar ideas from these other creators to make an amalgamation of something amazing. One other thing: the badges you can get are so rewarding as well. You can brag and show them off in the lobby and show them to your friends.

Design is one of the many things I love about “Pressure” The monsters have many varieties and many different functions (you learn these the hard way each time you inevitably fail). From the harmless Sea Bunnies to the downright terrifying Pandemonium (locker minigames), each entity is strictly unique to only itself and each one can (and most likely will) be different each time you play the game.

This brings me to my next point: the room generation. It might sound odd, but since this game has an objective of going through and around one hundred doors, the rooms matter, and something I’d like to say is that they aren't repetitive at all. Each run is special. It’s almost like you’re playing for the first time over and over.

One thing I want to see and/or be improved upon later is the sounds of the monsters. You can hear them, but I have to turn up my volume quite a lot to hear them more clearly. Something else I’d like to mention is the “Deaf Mode,” which they let you turn on in the game’s settings. It’s amazing! It can help many people while playing, and it tells you everything that’s happening at the current moment. Plus, having a deaf mode tells me that the developers truly care about everyone who is playing the game.

I have stated before that “Pressure” was inspired by a game called “Doors.” It’s very similar, and you’d get to see the similarities between them almost instantly. One thing “Pressure” does right is the overall atmosphere. Sure, “Doors” is also an amazing game, but “Pressure” just knows how to immerse their players a bit better. The loudspeakers, the voice acting, and the unnatural bubbling and rumbling from the walls from the pressure of the outside water create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Overall, this game was an amazing experience to play. Ten out of ten!
